Hotpoint Appliances Ltd Donates Equipment to TU-K
The division of Networks, Partnerships and Linkages (NPL) through one of its Directorates-The Directorate of Industry and Professional Partnerships has received equipment worth Kshs. 1,131,830 from Hotpoint Appliances Ltd as part of their Co-operate Social Responsibility (CSR). The equipment and the spares will help in practical training and research in the University. The donation includes: electric cookers, microwaves, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, hot plates, fans. The equipment and spares will help students to troubleshoot and remedy common domestic appliance problems and give solutions, thereby offering practical skills that are relevant to the consumer/user needs.
The donation was handed to Prof. Suki Mwendwa (fourth right) Ag. Deputy Vice- Chancellor in charge of Networks, Partnerships and Linkages by Mr. Shailesh R. Kanani (Second – Right) the Managing Director of Hotpoint Appliances Ltd, in the presence of Rupal Sankreacha- Human Resources Manager, Ms Edith Kivenga- Assistant HR Manager, Mr. Mike Gitau-Service Center Manager and Ms. Rachel Wachira- the Marketing Co-ordinator. In her response, Prof. Mwendwa thanked the company and welcomed the Partnership. She said that Hotpoint was the first company to extend such a gesture since the University was awarded a charter on 15th January 2013 and that she would fast track the memorandum of cooperation to be concluded soon so that other activities could follow amongst them, the joint CSR initiatives, in-house training on Safety and Health, scholarship to female students who will study Science and Engineering based programmes.
