New VC Pays Tribute to Prof Aduol, Assures Staff of Support

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benedict Mutua has paid tribute to his predecessor, Prof Francis Aduol for the central role he played in the establishment and development of TU-K to be what it is today.

Prof Mutua said whenever necessary, he will be consulting Prof Aduol because of his institutional memory and experience.

He said he was open-minded, ready to listen and work with both staff and students on condition that they uphold the ethos of truthfulness and honesty.

“There can never be a university whenever there is disagreements between the students and Management, Council and so on. I can assure you that we will work together to build this great university. We will create an impact in the academia and industry,” said he.

Prof Mutua said that during his time at TU-K, he will practice an open-door policy kind of management to allow consultations for the sake of moving the institution forward.

The new VC said his priority will be to have research findings commercialised so as to have a real impact in society.

He commended the Management and indicated that “we have a plan for this university. We will unveil as the days go by. Let’s start working.”

“When I checked the profiles of the TU-K staff, I was really impressed. The University has a great complement of qualified and experienced academics whom, we can tap on to achieve great things for this country,” said Prof Mutua.

He thanked the University Council, Management and staff for the warm welcome they had accorded him.

The VC assured the Council of his commitment and dedication to steering the university and challenged the staff and students to stick to the ethics of truth and honesty if they aspire to move further.
