Ho Technical University to Partner with TU-K

Ho Technical University, Ghana, and the Technical University of Kenya, are set for student and teaching staff exchange programme geared towards joint training and research. This is tailored to solve challenges in the African continent through homegrown technological and innovative solutions. The visiting Vice-Chancellor from Ho Technical University, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, noted that the continent has common socio-economic and political challenges that call for shared knowledge between learning and research institutions in Africa.

Prof. Honyenuga said his university and TU-K have many similarities including; equipment in their workshops, teaching and research approaches that need to be harnessed for a better society.

Ho Technical University was recently elevated to a degree awarding institution from a tertiary college, formerly Ho Polytechnic in the Volta Region of Ghana.

Prof. Honyenuga called on TU-K VC, Prof. Benedict Mutua, who was represented by the DVC - Institutional Advancement and Enterprise Division (IAE), Prof. Paul Wambua accompanied by the Director, TVET Strategy and Development, Mr. Chrisantus Akumu.

Prof. Honyenuga who is also the Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (ATUPA) Executive Board Member, earlier attended the Association’s meeting in Naivasha.  

Prof. Honyenuga toured workshops and laboratories at TU-K.

Mr. Akumu said Ho Technical University of Ghana and TU-K are working on a Memorandum of Understanding to activate the collaboration between the two universities.

The Technical University of Kenya in partnership with Exploring Visual Cultures will be hosting the 4th International Conference from November 27th to 29th, 2024 at the Edge Convention Centre, Nairobi. The theme of the conference is AI Media Innovations, Applications, Visual Culture, Challenges, and Future Trends. The call for papers is out and the deadline for submission of abstracts is on 31st May, 2024.
