Staff Rationalisation in the Offing

The University Council will soon undertake a staff rationalisation exercise aimed at mitigating the ever-ballooning wage bill. The exercise will create a more efficient, lean, and agile workforce structure to curb the financial constraints the institution has been experiencing. The Chairman of the University Council, Dr Idle Omar Farah, disclosed this when he presided at the 12th Graduation ceremony where more than 2900 graduands were conferred with degrees and awarded diplomas and certificates.

The ceremony was attended by members of the University Council, Murang’a University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dickson Nyariki, Kibabii University VC, Prof Isaac Ipara Odeo, among other invited guests.

Dr. Farah reminded the graduands that their achievement was not solitary, but rather a culmination of their resilience and unwavering support from their families and sponsors.

He applauded the new Vice-Chancellor, Prof Benedict Mutua, who has taken up his role with zeal and diligence.

Dr Farah recognised the VC’s efforts and his vision that is captured in the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan. “This sets our course for the future, steering this institution toward greater heights of success.”

He also paid tribute to the founding VC, Prof. Francis Aduol and Prof Paul Shiundu who acted as VC when Prof Aduol retired in May

He thanked the two for their commitment and said they are the founding fathers of TU-K.

Dr Farah noted that TU-K surpassed its performance targets for the 2022/2023 performance contract period. The University achieved a composite score of 2.8734 out of the possible score of 1.0. He also hailed the staff and encouraged them to continue working even harder for the University to achieve its vision and mission.
