Prof. Yole joins Covid-19 global College of Experts

The Director of the School of Biological and Life Sciences, Prof. Dorcas Yole, has been appointed to the Global College of Experts to help in understanding Covid-19 pandemic through research and seek ways to mitigate health impact in low and middle income countries.

Prof. Yole becomes a member of the College of Experts for joint Department of Health and Social Care (DHS) and the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) Global  Effort on Covid-19 (GECO) Health Research Call.

She will be part of the team charged with reviewing proposals addressing Covid-19 in low and middle income countries. The global effort on the pandemic is funded by Kingdom Research and Innovation and Medical Research Council (MRC, UK) together with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR, UK). The call is based in the Depart of Health and Social Care (DHS).

When reached for comment, Prof. Yole noted that this is an opportunity TU-K and Kenya at large would benefit from and join global efforts in research towards combating Covid-19 pandemic.

“I have already been involved in the review process, and I am grateful that TU-K is contributing in fight against Covid-19 in this aspect,” said Prof. Yole.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Francis Aduol congratulated Prof Yole adding that “I trust our University will immensely benefit from the wealth of knowledge you will acquire from this health research call.”
