Republic of Congo Minister visits TU-K
The Minister for Planning, Territorial Equipment and Major Works, from the Republic of Congo, Hon Jean Jacques, recently paid a courtesy call to the Technical University of Kenya (TU-K).
Hon. Jacques who is on a state visit to benchmark on education and infrastructure, was received by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Francis Aduol and Senior officers of the university. His entourage toured the Kenya –China Friendship Technology Training Centre (KCFTTC) housed at the university.
Others accompanying the Minister were Kenya’s Principal Secretary, State Department University Education and Research, Ministry of Education, Prof. Japheth Ntiba, Republic of Congo, ambassador to Kenya Mr. Jean Pierre Offey and senior officers from the Office of the Deputy President and the Ministry of Education.
The minister was impressed by the state of the art machines and equipment.
The Ps commended the university’s collaboration and networking with the industry in areas of academics and research, saying that the move will help in producing highly skilled and competent graduates. This will further strengthen the country’s industrialisation and boost the economy.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the centre will build a new class of creative and technically competent entrepreneurs from engineering to address the challenges of industrialization.
KCFTTC has both Mechanical and Electrical engineering workshops and laboratories. The Mechanical workshops consist of Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) milling and turning centres, Milling machines, Lathe machines, Planning machines, Cylindrical and Surface grinding machines.
