Vice-Chancellor of the Technical University of Kenya Prof. Francis Aduol has been appointed a member of the Executive Board of the Commonwealth Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (CAPA).
In a letter presented to him by CAPA Chairman Prof. Abdulai Salifu Asuro, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of Tamale Technical University in Ghana and the Secretary General Dr. Olubunmi Owuso, the team acknowledged the VC for his commitment towards CAPA affairs by ensuring it’s growth and development.
TU-K hosts the Headquarters of CAPA on behalf of the Government of Kenya.
Prof. Asuro thanked Prof. Aduol for his immense support to CAPA and upholding the spirit of Pan-Africanism.
Part of the letter read, “We are greatly inspired to institutionalise the indispensable role of the University’s VC in the affairs of CAPA, for now and the future. In the last meeting of the General Conference in Cape Town South Africa, the members enthusiastically approved your appointment as the Seat of CAPA Representative on the new Executive Board.”
In his remarks, the VC accepted his appointment noting that it was a great honour and privilege. “In my heart, I feel that I have a genuine commitment to Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET). I believe we can put our minds together as Technical Universities in Africa, and strengthen CAPA,” said he.
Prof. Aduol is expected to support the leadership of CAPA and help in the implementation of some strategic decisions with greater impact, both nationally and regionally.
The inauguration of the new Board and it’s inaugural meeting is scheduled to take place in Nairobi early next month.
