This year’s TU-K Culture Week is underway. The Students Association of the Technical University of Kenya (SATUK) have organised the culture week, an event that started on Tuesday and will end on Friday. This year’s theme is: Celebrating our diversity, talent innovation and excellence. The Dean of Students, Prof. Omondi Oketch, explained that most of the activities will take place in the Main Hall, the Lecture theatre and the Red Square. He added that the Culture Week will culminate with Mr. and Miss TU-K Beauty Pageant on Friday.
The Dean has previously praised the student leaders and students for organising successful events. He has termed the performance as sterling saying their success promotes the image and reputation of the university and therefore should be celebrated.
Representatives from Metropol CRB, will speak to the TU-K community about credit reference bureaus, who lists names of borrowers and why people are sometimes denied loans and what they should do.
During the opening ceremony, the Drama Club entertained the audience with a winning cultural dance, “Omundu-khu-Mundu.” The dance emerged top in the just concluded 6th Regional Kenya Universities Performing Arts Association (KUPAA), Drama Festivals that was held at the Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU).
Led by Dr. Teresa Otieno (Assistant Patron), TU-K French students presented a French Solo and Comedy.
Students from the School of Hospitality and Human Ecology, exhibited their creative works and business ventures.
Different students’ Associations for instance, The Association of Engineering Students of TU-K, exhibited their innovations such as the Garbage Collecting Autonomous Robots. Former students exhibited iforge 3D Printing and Design and how it can seamlessly be integrate into a curriculum.
