TU-K Admits 4135 New Students

The Technical University of Kenya has admitted 4135 new students for the 2021/2022 Academic Year. Starting September 27 through October 1, the University staged an intensive virtual orientation exercise for the Freshers aired live on TU-K’s website and social media platforms where students can still watch, even now, in case they missed any session.

SATUK Gets New Leadership

The Technical University of Kenya Student union SATUK has new leadership for the year 2021/2022. Mani Peter Mwangangi was elected the Chair, and Birech Raechel Cheptoo as his Deputy. Harrison Boniface Muema was elected Secretary General, Kirera Denis Muchoki Finance Secretary, Oundo Barasa Fredrick Academic Secretary, Kimani Mercy Wairimu Gender and Social Welfare Secretary.

TU-K Holds 9th Graduation Ceremony

For the second year in a row, the Technical University of Kenya has today virtually held its 9th graduation ceremony.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ms. Mumina Bonaya – Chief Administrative Secretary representing the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education, Prof. George Magoha, asked local universities to start preparing for the Competency Based Curriculum in readiness for the students who will be joining the institutions in a few years.

Development in Africa with Radio Astronomy - Basic Training Programme

 

Africa is becoming the focus for the world of radio astronomy. It will host the mid-frequency Square Kilometre Array (SKA) –the next generation global radio astronomy facility that will be built initially in South Africa, and then rolled out across eight African partner countries, including Kenya.

DARA Big Data Workshop on July 12th – 16th 2021 at TU-K

The Technical University of Kenya  ( TU Kenya),  Development in  Africa with Radio Astronomy (DARA Big Data (link is external)), the Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD (link is external)) and Inter-University Institute for Data Intensive Astronomy (IDIA (link is external)) are hosting an intensive data science event entitled “Big Data Kenya”.

This will be a 5 day workshop consisting of tutorials in Python and machine learning concepts followed by a guided hackathon. The event will be held on campus at TU Kenya in Nairobi and will be led by an experienced team of tutors. The event will begin on Mon 12th July and end on Fri 16th July; participants must be able to get to TU Kenya each day and must commit to attending each day in full. A travel stipend will be provided for participants.
