Hubei University of Automotive Technology Corporates with TU-K

The Technical University of Kenya TU-K has formerly moved to corporate with Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT), China, in areas of academia and industrial linkages.  A delegation led by the President of HUAT, Prof. Wang Xiao, visited TU-K where they signed an MoU. The VC, Prof. Benedict Mutua signed for TU-K. The two institutions committed to advance knowledge and innovation in the automotive and engineering disciplines.  Prof. Xiao was accompanied by Prof. Zhou Mingzhi, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs at HUAT, Prof. Su Zibo, the Chinese Director of Confucius Institute at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, and Prof Daniel Duah, the Ghanaian Director of Confucius Institute at KNUST.

TU-K Holds Journalism and Media Symposium

The Department of Creative Arts and Media at the Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) held its Industry-Based Learning (IBL) Symposium for the 2024–2025 academic year in the Lecture Theatre. The event’s goal was to motivate students in Journalism and Media Studies by offering opportunities to network and engage in insightful discussions with experienced media professionals. Among the distinguished guests were investigative journalist Patrick Mayoyo, Ellen Wanjiru, Head of TV Editorial Content at Mediamax Network Ltd, Agnes Mwangangi, a Council Member for Radio at the Kenya Editors’ Guild (KEG), Emily Kaiga, Programme Officer at KEG, and Faith Mutegi, an accomplished TU-K alumnus currently working with AMREF and founder of Kushoto.org.

TU-K Hosts Workshop to Boost Transdisciplinary Research Skills

Researchers in the East Africa region can now competitively navigate through the research and grants landscape having been trained on how to develop clear, persuasive, and compelling grant proposals. This follows a specialized training workshop titled "Mastering Research Proposals: Integrating Transdisciplinary Approaches for Impactful Research” that was hosted by TU-K from 31st May to 3rd June 2025 at the Main Hall.  The workshop was organised by a consortium of organisations, in a bid to enhance a sustainable research ecosystem across countries in the global South, specifically in East Africa.

University of Juba Delegation Benchmarks with TU-K

TU-K may soon enter a collaboration with the University of Juba (UoJ). Prof. Andrew Kiri Amegovu, the Director in-charge of Research and Publication at UoJ, led a delegation that recently visited TU-K for benchmarking. Deputy Vice-Chancellor in-charge of Institutional Advancement and Enterprises (IAE), Prof. Paul Wambua, along with his counterpart in charge of Research and Technology Development (RTD), Prof. Isaac Orina received the visitors.

Astronomy and robotic telescope technology workshop begins

Researchers from Global South are taking bold steps in building capacities and knowledge in astronomy and robotic telescope technology amongst the future generation of scientists. To foster a leadership role in this field, TU-K in partnership with the Sharing the Sky Programme, is hosting a 3-day workshop themed ‘Skill Development using a global telescope network for uplifting the East African astronomical research community’.

The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) in collaboration with Maseno University, the Belmont Forum, the International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre (ISTIC) under the auspices of UNESCO, the National Research Fund, South Africa (NRF-RSA), the National Research Fund, Kenya (NRF-Kenya), the Future Earth Africa Node, the Future Earth Africa Hub Leadership Centre and other partners will hold a 4-day 2nd East Africa Regional Workshop on Mastering Research Proposals: Integrating transdisciplinary approaches for impactful research beginning Saturday May 31, 2025 to Tuesday June 3, 2025.
