TU-K Partners With KCB Foundation to Promote SMEs

TU-K, in partnership with the KCB Foundation, is nurturing young entrepreneurs running small and middle-sized businesses (SMEs) in Nairobi and its environs. The partnership is anchored in the KCB Foundation’s Young Africa Works – Kenya (YAW-K) project, which is funded by the Mastercard Foundation. Under the partnership, the University plays a key role in providing training and personalised mentorship to 620 SMEs in Nairobi (Eastleigh), Kiambu, Ngara, and Githunguri, with an allocation of 155 entrepreneurs per region. The project specifically targets young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 28 years, with 80% of the beneficiaries expected to be women.

HELB, HEF Teams Sensitise Students on Varsity Funding

University students have been urged to apply for funding for 2025/26 academic year and consequently appeal if they feel dissatisfied with the outcome. For continuing students, deadline was extended to 7th of September while freshers deadline will be on 14th September 2025. This was communicated by the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) in conjunction with the University Fund during a consultative forum and sensitisation event held at the Technical university of Kenya (TU-K) on 4th September 2025.

TU-K Host Africa Tech Challenge Season 10 Graduation

The Technical University of Kenya, on Friday, 29th August 2025, hosted the ATC Season 10 graduation ceremony.

The ceremony was officiated by Mr. John Tuwei, Director, TVET-Project and Partnership, State Department for Technical and Vocational Education, Ministry of Education. He was joined by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benedict Mutua, Mr. Ephraim Munene, the Deputy Director and Coordinator of the Kenya/China Project, State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Ms. Du Juan, Vice-President of AVIC INNO Project Engineering Company, and other dignitaries.

TU-K Freshmen Challenged to Use Time Wisely, Innovate and Embrace Research

The Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) wrapped up its orientation week with a keynote address from the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benedict Mutua. He challenged the new students to approach their university years with discipline, creativity, and purpose. Prof. Mutua began by paying tribute to parents and guardians for their commitment in ensuring their children joined university. He noted that some families had gone as far as selling land and other assets to cover tuition fees. “You are privileged to be here. Appreciate the effort that has been made to bring you to TU-K,” he told the first years.
