Dr. LYDIA A. OLAKA Chairperson, Department of Physics, Earth and Environmental Sciences (DPEES)

Lydia A. Olaka is the Chairperson of the Department of Physics Earth and Environmental Science (DPEES) at the Technical University of Kenya. She holds a PhD in Geosciences from the University of Potsdam, Germany, and has over a decade of academic and research experience. Her expertise spans Earth system science, geochemistry, geological carbon mitigation, and groundwater flow dynamics. Dr. Olaka is committed to advancing geoscience education and mentoring future scientists. She has published extensively, and promotes regional and international collaboration in environmental and Earth sciences. She received the national outstanding woman Researchers in Physical sciences Technology and innovation sector award, by NRF, Kenya in August 2024.
