TU-K Presents Theses to the Kenya National Library Service

The School of Graduate and Advanced Studies (SGAS) has presented to the Kenya National Library Service (KNLS) copies of students’ Master’s dissertations and PhD theses. This initiative is in respect of the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions. The team from SGAS was led by the Director, Prof. Tom Kwanya, accompanied by members of staff and Mrs Joyce Mugenya, a Senior Librarian at TU-K’s Library and Resource Learning Centre. They were received by the KNLS Acting Director, Ms. Betty Kalugho, Head of Department Preservation and Conservation, Mr. Richard Rono, and Head of Department Acquisition, Cataloguing Classification and Distribution Department.

VC Counsels New Students on Personal Success

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benedict Mutua, has today 5th May 2025 challenged staff and students to maintain the highest standard of integrity, discipline and respect.  Speaking while addressing first-year students who completed their orientation programme on Friday last week, Prof. Mutua emphasised that TU-K values inclusivity, diversity and ethical behavior. “We all come from different regions and ethnic groups, you never applied to be born there. Respect and appreciate other people’s culture and values. We are here as a family of scholars,” said the VC.

TU-K Refines Scholars’ Research and Presentation Skills

A hybrid training workshop titled "Presentation and Grant Writing Skills was held from 28th to 30th April 2025. The event targeted postgraduate students, early-career researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and professionals across various disciplines to enhance their research skills. The focus of the workshop was to empower the attendees to craft persuasive research proposals with high potential for success in addition to developing exceptional presentation skills for academic settings.

New SATUK Officials Sworn-in

VC urges the incoming office bearers to leave a positive impact, serve with humility and inspire other students.

A new chapter has begun for the Student Association of Technical University of Kenya - SATUK 2025/2026 leadership. This follows the taking of the oath of office by the newly-elected SATUK leaders led by Moses Okal Odhiambo, SATUK Chairperson who is deputised by Yvone Nyanchera.  The swearing in ceremony of the newly-elected SATUK 2025/2026 representatives took place today, 30th April 2025 at the University’s Main Hall.

Practical Science Communication Skills Necessary for Researchers

The Department of Chemistry and Material Science recently organised a training workshop themed Training on Public Engagement & Science Communication for Early Career Chemists. aimed at enhancing public engagement and science communication among early-career chemists.

PhD and Master’s students from various institutions including TU-K, University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, Maseno University, Multimedia University, Bomet University, Thika Technical Training Institute, United States International University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and Chuka University participated during the blended training - physical and virtual.
