Miss Shelmith Nelima

Journalism Student Joins UN’s Sustainable Development Fellowship

Miss Shelmith Nelima, a student from the Department of Design and Creative Arts, has been selected as a Millennium Fellow for the Class of 2025. The Millennium Fellowship, a programme of the United Nations Academic Impact and the Millennium Campus Network, supports student leaders, who advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in their communities. This year, the Fellowship attracted over 60,000 applicants from more than 7,500 campuses worldwide. Out of these, only 290 campuses, an equivalent of 4% were selected to host just over 4,000 Fellows. Being chosen as part of this global community is a remarkable achievement that highlights vision, and dedication to social impact. Applicants were drawn from countries including; USA, Nigeria, United Kingdom, Australia, Kenya, India among others.

Architecture Students Showcase Projects

Second and third year Diploma students held an exhibition to showcase their projects. The second-year students’ project was to design a Chapel for ‘Prayers Beyond Boundaries’ (PBB) Ministry in Mai Mahiu, while the third year students’ project was to design Innovation Centres. The event held at the University on 17th August, 2025, was attended by Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Maurice Amutabi, Chairman Department of Architecture, Design and Planning (DADP) Dr. Joseph Kedogo, Lecturer Arch. Joel Oyuga, Pastor Amos Mbugua (PBB), Director Polygon Model Makers Ltd Mr. Caleb Otieno among others.

TU-K Final Year Fashion Students Showcase their Capstone Projects

On August 5, 2025, students from the Department of Hospitality and Human Ecology presented their final-year fashion project. The final-year students pursuing a Bachelor's Degree programme in Fashion Design & Technology displayed their skills, business initiatives, and creative works in a show that was filled with pomp and colour. Modelling was at the epicentre of the occasion, with several models gracing the catwalk as music set the rhythm and energy of the showcase. The annual event serves as a stage for students to demonstrate their talent, highlight their skills, and share their artistic expression.

Garissa University Staff on Benchmarking Visit to TU-K

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) hosted a benchmarking delegation from Garissa University. The visit was part of a collaborative effort to share best practices in university management and administration. The two-member delegation was from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Garissa University. It consisted of Mr. Abdullahi Omar, Head of Administrative Services, and Ms. Asiya Mohammed, Senior Administrator. Their objective was to gain insight into TU-K’s governance structures and operational procedures and policies in the various administrative departments.
