TU-K has recorded improved performance in the 2025/2026 Performance Contract Evaluation, attaining a composite score of 2.8188 compared to 2.8767 in the 2024/2025 evaluation. The Performance contract evaluation is assessed on a scale of 1.00 to 5.00, with 1.00 representing the highest level of achievement and 5.00 representing zero achievement. This means that the lower the score, the better the performance.
The evaluation exercise was held on 29th October 2026 and officially opened by the Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Idle Farah. Officials from the Public Service Performance Management Unit, led by Mr. Isaac Lagat and Mr. George Okoth, conducted the evaluation.
The evaluation assessed the University's performance across key indicators, including financial stewardship, service delivery, teaching, research and innovation, productivity, community service, implementation of Government directives, affirmative action in procurement, and other cross cutting areas including; asset management, youth internships and attachments, and promotion of national values and principles of good governance.
TU-K recorded a strong performance in most of the indicators, with an improvement in asset management, particularly the submission of asset management reports to the National Treasury, and a reduction in pending bills contributing to the overall performance.
In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benedict Mutua, commended staff for their commitment and teamwork throughout the contract period and urged them to sustain their efforts to achieve even better results. He acknowledged pending bills as an area requiring further attention and reaffirmed the University's commitment in addressing outstanding obligations and progressively clearing the bills.
