Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) has donated 30 high-performance computers to the Technical University of Kenya’s Department of Creative Arts and Media (DCAM). The generous donation is part of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions towards skill development, research, environmental conservation and economic growth.
While receiving the computers, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) in charge of Institutional Advancement and Enterprise, Prof. Paul Wambua said the computers would go towards enriching the ICT training and infrastructure.
“This contribution is both timely and impactful, as a University committed to advancing technical education and digital innovation, we will use these computers to equip our students with the critical digital skills required in today’s knowledge-driven economy,” Prof. Wambua said.
The computers were installed on March 4, 2026 by Prime Telecoms contracted by Konza Technopolis.
Students undertaking coursework in interactive media designs, environmental design, communication design, journalism, music production among others will benefit from the computers.
The donation also extends to support of broader objective of national Jitume initiative which seeks to expand access to digital training and empower young people and communities through technology.
While underscoring important role partners play supporting the University, Prof. Wambua commended the Chair of the Department Dr. Mary Clare Kidenda for resource mobilisation and instrumental responsibility she has played in corporation with Konza Technopolis.
Ishmael Obonyo who represented the Director, ICT Services Prof. Salesio Kiura assured the University that the computers were new and would greatly benefit students at the Department who need high-performance computers. He urged the Department to take good care of the donation through securing them and ensuring safety procedures are in place.
