A delegation from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology recently visited TU-K for a benchmarking session focused on the University’s admissions processes and the functionality of the TUSOFT system.
The visiting team sought to gain insights into how the Tusoft software supports admissions management and enhances service delivery to students. They were particularly interested in understanding the efficiency of the system and exploring possible best practices that could be adopted at MMUST.
The delegation was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benedict Mutua, who was flanked by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology Development, Prof. Alfred Orina, Deputy Registrar Academics and Coordination, Mr. George Ndeng’era; Senior Assistant Registrar in charge of Student Recruitment and Admissions, Mr. Patrick Mathagu; and Administrative Officer for Admissions, Mr. Moses Mulati.
The MMUST delegation was led by the Deputy Registrar in charge of Academics, Mr. Zablon Obengo, and accompanied by Senior Assistant Registrar Christopher Noah, Senior Office Administrator Loice Makoo, System Administrator Vincent Asingo, Jacob Rotich from Admissions, Ken Kathukumi from the DVC-ASA office, and Levi Wanyama from Admissions.
The benchmarking session was hosted by the TU-K Admissions Office, where the MMUST team was taken through the operations. Demonstrations highlighted how students complete their application processes online, how admissions selections are managed through the Tusoft platform, and how the system facilitates communication through bulk messaging.
The visitors were briefed on how students can conveniently access important academic and administrative services through the system, including viewing and printing provisional result slips, checking fee statements and balances, applying for deferment, and booking hostel accommodation.
The MMUST team commended TU-K for developing an efficient and user-friendly system that simplifies interactions between students and the Admissions Office. They expressed interest in adopting similar innovations to improve their own admissions processes and enhance service delivery at their institution. The delegation further appreciated TU-K for the warm reception and for sharing valuable insights during the benchmarking visit.
