Third year diploma students from the Department of Fashion, Clothing and Textiles showcased their inspired designs as a part of their final project in an ‘All-black and white with a highlight of color’- themed fashion show extravaganza at the university.
The red carpet runway was set to exude elegance and class as the models exhibited each student’s designs. The young fashion designers presented a collection exhibiting inspired storylines, diverse cultures, passion, nature, occasions and celebrities.
The event was facilitated by lectures from the Department including; Ms. Ruth Yole, Lillian Mwende, Prof. Richard Makopondo, Director, School Hospitality and Human Ecology. Some of the invited guests were from the Kenya Fashion Awards and Nairobi College of Garment Production.
Dr. Mary Clare Kidenda applauded staff and students urging them to attempt cross-cutting designs from African continents and from others parts of the world.
Prof. Makopondo appreciated the students’ effort and participation in such a exhibition event noting that such activities are highly encouraged and place students in best positions for job opportunities as well self employments.
The Director also advised the young designers to take advantage of government youth fund during the upcoming entrepreneurs funding round so they can set up design ventures.
