TU-K to Offer Tuition for KASNEB Courses

The Technical University of Kenya, in collaboration with Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board – KASNEB, have officially launched a partnership that will see students easily access tuition for the professional courses. The partnership, will be spearheaded by the School of Business and Management Studies. The programme will not only boost TU-K students’ competitive advantage in the job market, but also allow a seamless cycle for students to undertake their degree programmes concurrently with KASNEB professional courses.

During the partnership launch, held on 10th December 2024, KASNEB officials led by Mr. Boniface Nderi, sensitised students on their courses, providing expert advice and guidance. In his address, Mr. Nderi demystified the perception that KASNEB only provides professional accounting courses.

“When we talk of KASNEB, people only think about Accounting, but we have an array of other courses including HR courses, ICT certifications, we also have Certified Quality Professional Qualification that was recently launched as a result of the partnership we have with KEBS, and many other courses for different degree programs,” he said.

“Walk around, in any established institution, business or manufacturing company, you will find a KASNEB- trained professional. We are everywhere. That tells you of the quality of professionals we produce,” stressed Mr Nderi.

He also encouraged students to take advantage of this partnership, register for their courses, and attend class because as the courses progress, they become more complex.

“Please add something to your four-year study period. KASNEB is here to ensure that every student has a chance to be where they want to be. For the foundation courses, students can study on their own, and those who have degrees are exempted from the foundational courses however, when you get to intermediate level, you must attend class,” Mr. Nderi implored.

“Learn as much as you can, opportunities are out there, but they require individuals with a degree from a recognised institution and professional qualification with a good standing,” he added

He stressed that KASNEB courses are not hard, they only require one to study well. Mr. Nderi advised students to maintain a high level of integrity, both in their academic and professional journey. Additionally, he discouraged them from engaging in careless social media conversations, particularly criticising the Government. He concluded by expressing hope in having the University set as an examination center in future.

After the KASNEB sensitisation session, Dr. Julius Murumba, a Lecturer in the Department of Management and Technology also created awareness of other TU-K short courses offered by the school including Certificate in Business Information Technology, Certificate in Sustainability Entrepreneurship, and Certificate in Fleet Management.

Prof. Peter Matu, the Executive Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, said the partnership will promote demand for the courses, as well as strengthen the caliber of students the university produces.

Prof. Collins Miruka, Director, School of Business and Management Studies, said the partnership was meant to provide TU-K students easy access to professional courses that will position them favourably both locally and internationally. He added that the school will maintain an open door to address any questions and concerns from students.

Prospective students are encouraged to register for KASNEB courses at their own convenience through their portal, and registration and examination fees are also payable to KASNEB. Additionally, students who wish to undertake their tuition at TU-K are encouraged to register and apply through the University student portal.
