Colourful 12th Graduation Ceremony Held

More than 2,900 graduands were conferred with degrees and awarded diplomas and certificates during the 12th Graduation Ceremony presided by the Acting Chancellor, Dr Idle Omar Farah. During the ceremony, graced by the Principal Secretary for State Department for University Education, Dr. Beatrice Muganda Inyangala, Prof. Benedict Mwavu Mutua, was installed as the second Vice-Chancellor of The Technical University of Kenya.

Prof Mutua was appointed VC in August but formally took office on 18th September 2023. Today’s ceremony was Prof Mutua’s first as Vice-Chancellor at TU-K.

The VC paid tribute to his predecessor and the founding Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Aduol for his commitment and energy to build TU-K from a college to one of the most recognised technical university in Kenya.

Prof. Mutua, further recognised TU-K’s staff and stakeholders for their contribution to the growth of the institution.

The Principal Secretary, State Department for Higher Education and Research, Dr. Beatrice Muganda Inyangala, applauded the graduands and appreciated their families, guardians and sponsors for the hard work and self-denial of resources to see their children through university studies.

Dr. Inyangala said the Ministry of Education will continue supporting TU-K to complete the projects that were launched in December 2022 by His Excellency, Dr William Ruto. She also urged the University Management to continue following up on the Railway land that the President allocated the institution for its expansion. 

The University Chair of Council, Dr. Idle O. Farah honoured the presence of the chief guest from the ministry of education, saying it symbolised the unwavering support for TU-K which is a testament to its pursuit of excellence in higher learning.  

He congratulated the class of 2023 and thanked them for their hardwork and patience.” Your journey to this point speaks volumes about your dedication and perseverance. You have displayed a remarkable discipline to cross this academic threshold amid countless distractions and challenges”, He said.
