TU-K’s Don Appointed IEDC International Ambassador

Dr. Hezron Osano

Dr. Hezron Osano, a Senior Lecturer at TU-K, has been appointed as an International Ambassador by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), marking a historic milestone as the first African to hold this prestigious position. He joins a select group of eight global professionals appointed by IEDC on June 10th following a rigorous selection process conducted by the IEDC Board of Directors. All eight appointees serve either on the Economic Development Council Board or the International Advisories Committee, showcasing a strong track record in global economic development.

The IEDC is the world’s largest non-profit membership organisation for professional economic developers, representing over 4,500 members worldwide. It is dedicated to advancing economic growth, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development across communities through research, training, and policy tools.

As an International Ambassador, Dr. Osano will engage in high-level global networking, access specialised training and resources, and influence cutting-edge research to inform public policy and strategic decision-making. This role also aligns with his academic pursuits, offering him opportunities to represent the Technical University of Kenya in international conferences, promote staff and student development programmes, and foster partnerships with global academic institutions.

In his ambassadorial role, Dr. Osano will also support the implementation of national and county-level development initiatives across Kenya, incorporating international best practices to enhance economic well-being and improve quality of life. Furthermore, he is expected to contribute to the broader African development agenda by facilitating collaboration between economic developers and strengthening global partnerships.

Currently Dr Osano serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business and Management Studies at the Technical University of Kenya. In his IEDC role, Dr. Osano brings extensive academic and professional expertise. His qualifications include a PhD in Business Administration (Entrepreneurship) from Kabarak University, an MBA in International Business, Organizational Innovation, Finance, and Strategy from the University of Strathclyde (UK), a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Brunel University (UK), and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Thomas Edison State University (US). He is also a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) entrepreneurship development professional (EDP) and an Associate Chartered Institute of Bankers. (ACIB).

This appointment not only underscores Dr. Osano’s commitment to economic development and education but also positions him as a key figure in fostering global partnerships that benefit African communities.
