TU-K and Weixian College Initiate Collaboration

Students from Weixian College, China with their TU-K counterparts tour the Aeronautical Engineering Workshop at the University.

In an effort to promote global academic cooperation, a group of engineering students and faculty from Weixian College, China, visited the Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) on Thursday 17th July 2025. The tour, organised by the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (FEBE) and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology (FSST), marked a major step in the development of international collaborations in higher education.

Present during the visit were Dr. Tom Oduor Obura, Dr. Catherine Nandani, Dr. Asha Owana Kaburu, alongside Yvonne Awour and George Chira Kirumba, who all played key roles in facilitating the engagement.

Discussions on contents of a proposed MoU between the two institutions was the highlight of the visit. The proposed MoU establishes the framework for a more comprehensive collaboration centred on innovations, student exchange programmes, and cooperative research projects. The agreement's specifics and procedures are still being worked out. The MoU is anticipated to create new opportunities for TU-K and Weixian College, China.

The visitors were taken around TU-K's engineering labs, where they saw a variety of equipment and technologies utilised by students. Discussions about innovation, infrastructure, and hands-on learning dominated the meeting.

The collaboration will also offer a forum for academic and cultural exchange.
