Students Join Forces to End Gender-Based Violence

Hundreds of university students from TU-K, JKUAT, UON, KU, and other institutions today gathered at the Technical University of Kenya for a high-impact forum against gender-based violence (GBV). Organised by nominated Senator Karen Nyamu, the gathering, called "STOP Violence Against Women," served as an important point for social responsibility and youth advocacy in the fight against femicide and other types of violence.

Physics Without Frontiers Workshop Begins

The Department of Physics, Earth and Environmental Sciences’ two-week intensive workshop is underway. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benedict Mutua presided over the opening ceremony on Monday. The theme of the workshop is: “Methodological School on Density Functional Theory.” It is a collaborative initiative organised under the International Centre for Theoretical Physics - Physics Without Frontiers (ICTP-PWF).

TU-K Community Puts A Smile On Smile Children’s Home

The Directorate of Outreach, Linkages and Partnerships, presented stationary, food stuff, clothes, toiletries and cash donations to Smile Community Centre Children’s home, in Soweto, Kayole on 27th June 2025. The TU-K team led by Dr. Judith Waswa, was received by the Founder of the Children's Home, Ms. Margaret Nekesa.

The presentation of the gifts marked a month-long campaign appeal for donations from members of staff, students and the alumni, in support of Smile Community Centre Children’s Home, Nairobi.

TUK Signs MoU with Germany’s Leading Research Center HZB

The Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie GmbH (HZB), Berlin.  The signing ceremony took place at the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany residence in Nairobi. TU-K Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benedict Mutua, signed the MoU in presence of Ambassador H.E Sebastian Groth, Head of the user Coordination and Technical User Support Department Helmholtz Zentrum Dr. Antje Vollmer (representing the Director). Present at the function were Deputy Vice-Chancellor in-charge of Institutional Advancement and Enterprises, Prof. Paul Wambua, Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry and Material Science, Dr. Clare Muhanji, among others.

Former Cabinet Minister and Makueni Governor, Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, has challenged students to work diligently, remain focused, steadfast and exercise integrity saying these are yardsticks for one to success.Prof. Kibwana spoke when he graced the convention on the State of Tertiary Education in Kenya, that was organized by the National Student s’ Caucus and held at the Technical University of Kenya. The caucus was led by the Executive Director, Mr. Maxwell Magawi.
