Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research & Technology Development, Prof. Alfred Orina, has called on institutions to critically examine their culture and the policies that shape digital transformation so that technology adoption becomes meaningful, sustainable, and aligned to long-term institutional goals. Prof. Orina was speaking during the 2^nd Digital Transformation Summit, themed; “Scaling Digital Transformation in Kenyan Institutions: Leveraging Emerging Technologies in the Institutions of Higher Learning”. The summit was hosted on 28^th November 2025 by TU-K in collaboration with Strathmore University.

 The Technical University of Kenya clinched Second Position at the 2 nd Edition of the Concours d’Éloquence held on 13 th November 2025. The contest, organised by Alliance Française de Nairobi brought together brilliant young speakers from across the country to celebrate the beauty, logic, and power of the French language. The event was centred around two debate topics that challenged participants to think critically about modern society.

The University has approved a second graduation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic year to be held in February 2026. This special ceremony is intended for students who may miss the main graduation that was held on 25 th November, 2025, but who would have completed all requirements by then.

The Technical University of Kenya and Universiti Putra Malaysia are exploring potential collaboration to strengthen academic and research ties between the two institutions. The proposed partnership will be carried out through various joint activities such as student and researcher exchanges, study trips, collaborative courses and projects, as well as workshops, seminars, and conferences.

The Chancellor, Hon. Dr. Jared Kangwana has challenged TU-K graduates to face the world with confidence and purpose. The Chancellor was speaking during the 14^th graduation ceremony held today 25^th November 2025 where 2200 graduands were conferred with degrees and diplomas.

Education Cabinet Secretary, Mr Julius Ogamba is now an Honorary Alumnus of TU-K. The CS was conferred this honour by the Chancellor, Dr. Jared Kangwana during the 14^th Grduation Ceremony held today 25^th November 2025.

The Principal Secretary, State Department for Research, Science and Innovation, Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak commended TU-K for embracing technology, digitalisation, and innovation. While addressing the congregation of the 14^th graduation ceremony, the PS said:

The Technical University of Kenya today held its 14 th graduation ceremony, where more than 2,200 graduands, including a record 39 Master’s and 24 PhDs, the highest postgraduate achievement in the University's history were awarded degrees and diplomas.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education Mr. Julius Ogamba has called on the Technical University of Kenya to maintain its position as the leading TVET institution in the country and the region. Speaking during the University’s 14^th Graduation Ceremony, the CS further commended TU-K for standing tall terming the institution a beacon of excellence in technical and vocational education in the region.

Between 18^th and 19^th November 2025, the Technical University of Kenya hosted an event dubbed, ‘Geo-Generalist Era: Where Spatial Meets Everything’. The students and staff were addressed by leading minds in the academia as well as the industry. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Maurice Amutabi, welcomed participants and thanked sponsors of the event.  He noted that the University enjoys mutual collaborations and partnerships with various stakeholders. He underscored the University’s commitment in nurturing and supporting talents as well as academic programs.

The Technical University of Kenya French Club has launched the first ever French Club magazine by a Kenyan university called ‘Écho de la Francophonie’.  This pioneering publication reflects the dynamism, creativity and commitment of TU-K students to the promotion of the French language and culture.

• In a break from tradition, all graduands accessed the graduation booklet through a QR code shared via the university website, a move that reflected TU-K’s commitment to efficiency, sustainability, and modern paperless practices.
• Unlike previous years, the ceremony began at 8.30 am and ended in a record-breaking time, 11.45am to be specific. It turned out that many graduands did not seem to be in hurry to leave the precincts of the University. In fact parents and relatives who could not access the venue of the graduation ceremony earlier due to space, streamed into the compound and were seen taking pictures.
• Education Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Julius Ogamba becomes the first sitting Cabinet Secretary to grace a graduation ceremony at TU-K and was conferred a title of Honorary Alumnus.
• It was the first graduation in the history of TU-K to confer the highest number of Master’s (39) degrees and 24 PhD’s.
• Finally, the ceremony was the first where the traditional after-ceremony luncheon was not hosted. The event ended at 11.45 am!

The German University of Applied Sciences and the Technical University of Kenya, have taken a giant stride in the use of digital technologies in preserving cultural heritage. The two institutions organised a three-day Digital Twin Project seminar at the National Museums of Kenya (NMK). The seminar was themed: “Sharing Digitisation Lessons Based on a Kenyan Case Study.”

The Executive Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, Professor Francis Gatheri, has urged students to embrace innovation, discipline, and a sense of environmental responsibility as they resume learning after an extended industrial action.

The Technical University of Kenya has been named the best technical and vocational institution in the region.  The announcement was made on 5^th November 2025 during the 3^rd Edition of the African Academia Conference and Awards held in Kigali, Rwanda.  The conference brought together members of academia, innovators, and institutional leaders from across Africa, including; Ghana, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya.

The event was organised by The Business Executive Group, Ghana, and was themed: ‘Digital Transformation, Renewable Energy, and ICT Solutions for Education in Africa’.

The Technical University of Kenya has performed impressively during the 2024/2025 Performance Contract period. This was confirmed after the Performance Contract evaluation exercise held on Wednesday, 5^th November 2025. The University recorded a strong overall composite score of 2.8767 out of a possible score of 1, showing tremendous improvement of 0.1068 from the 2.9835 recorded in 2023/2024 contract period.

A team of four Professors and nine students from the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, Germany, are in the country to jointly work with Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) on a project that aims at digitising historical maps at the Kenya National Archives and Documentation Service. The exercise will be launched tomorrow 4 th November 2025, at the Kenya National Archives and Documentation Services.

International Student Day was marked on 29^th Oct, 2025, where students shared their experiences about TU-K and Kenya. The students drawn from; South Sudan, Rwanda, Malawi, South Africa, Uganda,  Tanzania, Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), noted that they felt privileged  to be studying in a premier technical institution and that they enjoy the hospitality of the country. While addressing the students, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA), Prof. Maurice Amutabi, congratulated the students for being admitted to TU-K terming the occasion special and the greatest moment of one’s life.

Samuel Mwendwa, and Joy Nyambura, are the newly crowned Mr and Miss TU-K. The duo emerged winners following the annual SATUK Awards, and Mr. and Miss TU-K pageant hosted on 24 th Oct 2025. Beate Otieno and Clifford Makori were crowned the first runners-up for Miss TU-K and Mr. TU-K, respectively.

The University of Applied Sciences Regensburg, Germany, is keen to establish a collaboration with TU-K. This was revealed by the delegation that visited the University on 21^st October 2025. The Deputy- Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA), Prof. Maurice Amutabi, received the delegation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor. He noted that the visit was very important to the University, informing them that TU-K was looking forward the collaboration. The DVC observed that the Germany model of training engineers is a motivation that forms the basis of TUK’s drive to be the hub of technologists’ training within the Eastern African region.
